The changes affect the file formats used for initiating cross-border payments via the “File Import” service. Customers are required to update the file formats they use in accordance with the new requirements.

The updated guidelines and technical requirements have been published and are available in the information provided under question 10 of the “Frequently Asked Questions” section.

We recommend that all users review the changes in a timely manner and take the necessary actions to ensure uninterrupted use of the service. The exact date of the change will be communicated further.

We know this is a time of celebration, but also change, and we want to make sure you feel confident and prepared. You do not have to take actions – after 01.01.2026 your account number remains the same as well as contractual conditions for all your banking products.

To help you enjoy the festive season without stress, here are a few simple tips:

• Plan ahead for your online banking needs  – complete any important transfers and payments before 14:00 on 30 December 2025 so you can relax during the holidays. 
• Carry cash on New Year’s Eve  – in leva or euro, as both currencies will be accepted for cash payments in January 2026, so you can feel confident wherever you go. 
• If you have upcoming trips or major expenses, consider making advance payments to avoid any inconvenience. 
• Update your mobile banking app – make sure you have the latest version of the UBB Mobile application installed. 
• Take care of your home and car – Pay your utility bills for electricity, water, internet, local taxes, and insurance by December 28, 2025, or purchase a vignette by December 29, 2025, to enjoy a stress-free holiday season.

In connection with the transition to the euro, all banks in Bulgaria, including UBB, will implement temporary interruptions of their digital and card services to ensure a smooth and secure changeover. The duration of these interruptions may vary between banks, but we all share the same goal – the safety and convenience of Bulgarian citizens.

Here are the planned interruptions at UBB:

• UBB Mobile and UBB Online – On December 30, 2025, until 14:00, you will be able to make transfers and top up card accounts via UBB Mobile and UBB Online. After 20:30 on December 30, 2025, access to digital channels will be temporarily closed. During this period, it will not be possible to check your card balance, make transfers, or top up card accounts through the digital channels. Clients with mobile banking and enabled push notifications will continue to receive alerts for completed transactions, and the updated balance after each transaction will be visible in them. This functionality will also be available on December 31, 2025. Access to the digital channels will be gradually restored after 05:00 on January 1, 2026. After that you can also ask Kate for latest information regarding the conversion
• Card transactions on ATM, POS terminals and online purchases  (including Apple Pay and Google Pay wallets) – short interruptions from 09:00 p.m on December 31 till 01:00 a.m. on January 1 are expected. During these periods, cards, ATMs and POS terminals in Bulgaria will not work, so please keep cash handy.  
• ATM Withdrawals and Deposits – After 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2026, ATMs withdrawals will be only in euro, while cash-deposits will be possible only in leva until January 31, 2026.
• UBB branches  will be closed from 12:30, December 30, 2025, until January 04, 2026. Please complete any necessary operations before then. Branches will reopen on January 5, 2026, with standard working hours. You can convert your cash in leva to EUR free of charge at the fixed rate of 1 EUR = 1.95583 leva till end of June’26.

Important: all transfers, payroll files, and requests in OBБ Online, for which the "Send" checkbox has been removed or which have not collected all required signatures to execute the payment order, regardless of their currency, will be officially declined as of 31.12.2025 and after 01.01.2026 will need to be submitted again.

After January 1, 2026, the following changes will be available in UBB Online:

1. Single transfers

In the “Payments” → “Transfers” menu, the types of transfers that you will be able to initiate will remain unchanged with the following exceptions/changes:

• The "Transfer in BGN" will be discontinued, with its equivalent becoming "Local EUR transfer" Using the new payment order type "Local EUR transfer" transfers in euros to non-budget accounts within the country will be possible. Transfers will be executed by default as SEPA Instant Credit Transfers, with a maximum amount of 50,000 euros. You will be able to initiate transfers not only from euro accounts but also with an agreed exchange rate for amounts over 5,000 euros;
• "Foreign currency transfer in UBB" will change to "Transfer in UBB" with the possibility of internal transfers in euros and other currencies;
• The service for initiating and confirming "Direct Debit" through UBB Online will be discontinued.

2. Templates – all templates in leva will be preserved and converted to euros at an exchange rate of 1.95583, rounded to two decimal places. The currency in these templates will also be changed from BGN to EUR.

3. Payroll files → after 01.01.2026, the field structure will be maintained, and if there is a currency field in the form you use, its value will change from BGN to EUR. The requirement remains that in payroll files, accounts must be with banks within the country (IBANs start with BG and are 22 characters long). Amounts in the files submitted to UBB Online after 01.01.2026 will be in euros. Important: In payroll files that do not have a currency field, it is assumed that amounts submitted after 01.01.2026 are in euros.

4. Account Movements

For accounts converted from leva to euros, it is not possible to select a period covering dates before and after the euro adoption.

• When selecting a period before 01.01.2026, the movements are displayed in leva;
• When selecting a period after 01.01.2026, the movements are displayed in euros.

5. Create Similar – in account movements and in the report "Payment Status and E-Documents," if you use the "create similar" function for a transfer that was made in leva, in the transaction details screen for signing, the amount will be loaded recalculated in euros, and the transfer currency will be EUR.

Starting from 22 November 2025, new requirements for processing international foreign-currency transfers in UBB Online will take effect as part of the CBPR+ (Cross-Border Payments and Reporting Plus) regulatory framework. As a result, certain fields and structural elements in payment instructions will require more detailed information.

When entering foreign currency transfers (single or via file import), please note the following:

• The recipient's address becomes structured and, instead of being on a single line as before, it will be filled in different fields for address, city, country, postal code (optional);
• For USD transfers to the USA, it will now be possible to enter the ABA/Routing number of the American bank in the field "BIC/SWIFT/ABA CODE". ;
• A new optional field is introduced for the BIC of an intermediary correspondent bank, where an 11-character BIC is entered only when you explicitly want the foreign currency transfer to go through a specific intermediary correspondent bank.

In connection with the implementation of the described changes, on 21.11.2025 (Friday) foreign currency transfers/files can only be entered until 15:30.

We wish to inform you of impending modifications to the file import formats within UBB Online.

1. Effective November 22, 2025, in compliance with the implementation of new standards under CBPR+ (Cross-Border Payments and Reporting Plus), as developed by SWIFT for currency transfers to banks outside the European Union and the European Economic Area, it will be mandatory to provide the recipient's address information—specifically, the country, city, and street address—in three distinct fields.

In order to adhere to these requirements, new fields for both the country and city have been incorporated into the existing formats utilized for interbank currency transfers.

Commencing January 1, 2026, in light of the adoption of the euro as the official currency of the Republic of Bulgaria, the following adjustments will be implemented in the file formats currently in use:

2.1. The existing formats for Bulgarian lev credit transfers will retain their structure under the designation "Transfer in Euro in the Country." These formats will continue to accommodate both ordered intra-bank transfers and outgoing (interbank) transfers conducted within the country, with the transfer currency now designated as "EUR." The planned modifications are as follows:

• The previously submitted value for the transfer currency will transition from BGN to EUR.
• The field identifying the payment system for express transfers in leva, previously referred to as RINGS, will be renamed to TARGET, which will process express transfers in EUR effective January 1, 2026.

2.2. The current file formats for transfers from and to the budget will maintain their existing structure. The anticipated changes are:

• The submitted value for the transfer currency will change from BGN to EUR.
• The field that designates the payment system for express transfers in leva, previously known as RINGS, will remain in the format but will no longer be utilized.

2.3. The file formats used for Budget Payment Requests (transfers via the SEBRA payment system) will retain their existing structure. The sole modification will pertain to the value submitted in the currency field, which will shift from BGN to EUR.

2.4. The file formats designated for foreign currency transfers will maintain their existing structure and functionality. The adjustments affecting these formats are those specified in item 1 of this notification.

2.5. For payroll files, the structure of the fields will remain unchanged. If the format in use contains a currency field, its value will transition from BGN to EUR. It is essential to ensure that accounts in payroll files are maintained within banks located in the country (IBANs must commence with BG and comprise 22 characters).

In line with the forthcoming introduction of the euro as an official currency in Bulgaria as of 1 January 2026, UBB initiates series of steps towards gradual and transparent adaptation of its services to the new regulations.

With effect from 22 July 2025, in the Bank’s digital channels – UBB Online and UBB Mobile – there will be double visualization of monetary values. This means that customers will see simultaneously the amounts in Bulgarian leva (BGN) and in euro (EUR), calculated at the official exchange rate of the Bulgarian National Bank: EUR 1 = BGN 1.95583

Double visualization placement?

In UBB Online amounts will be shown in both currencies for the products and accounts used, details under loans and deposits, fund transfer orders and import of files.

In UBB Mobile and in the conversations with the digital assistant Kate double visualization will be applied to available balances in all BGN accounts and cards, details on loans and deposits, as well as the charges for the services offered.

The introduction of double visualization will not lead to changes, affecting the products and services used.

Over the next days double visualization is about to be launched also on the UBB website in the individual product and campaign-related sub-pages, as well as in the calculators (mortgage calculator, agri calculator etc.)

We would like to inform you that starting from 15.07.2025 UBB increases the maximum amount for instant BLINK payments ordered through UBB Online from BGN 30 000 to BGN 100 000. This means that all payments in BGN via UBB Online to Bulgarian banks certified to receive instant payments with an amount up to or equal to BGN 100 000 will be executed as instant payments by default.

Increasing the limit gives you more flexibility in managing your finances and will allow you to make larger transactions without the need for multiple payments. The cost of the service remains unchanged.

UBB has started offering the service for instant payments in euros according to the European Payments Council's SEPA Instant Credit Transfer scheme. These are instant single transfers in euros to banks participating in the SEPA Instant scheme, which currently number over 2700.

You can send single transfers of up to 15,000 euros domestically and internationally, with the transferred funds available to the recipients within seconds of processing the transfer at the bank at any time of the day or night.

The fee for executing a SEPA Instant transfer in euros is the same as the fee for a standard SEPA transfer. The service for instant transfers in euros in UBB Online, UBB Mobile, and Open banking is available year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including on weekends and public holidays.

To send a SEPA Instant transfer, the following conditions must be met:

1. The recipient bank must be an active participant in SEPA Instant – see the list here: Registers of Participants in SEPA payment and payment related schemes | European Payments Council
2. The transfer must be in EUR
3. The amount being sent must be up to 15,000 euros
4. There must be no accompanying documentation
5. The costs must be shared (SHA).

And if the conditions are met, you can choose the SEPA instant transfer option in the foreign currency transfer order form in UBB Mobile, UBB Online, and Open Banking.

We would like to inform you that as of 10.12.2024 in UBB Online a new submenu " Change MT940 statement format " will be available, with which you will be able to make a request to change field 86 structure. You can access it through the "Accounts and deposits" menu.

UBB offers the following two formats of MT940 statement, which refer to field 86 – Payment reason/Details of payment.

Format 1 - MT940 statement, with structured field 86 – the transaction information in field 86 is categorized into separate subtags (00,10,20-27,30-33,40,50,60), and a three-digit number is always indicated at the beginning of the field transaction code of the operation. A "+" symbol is used as a separator between individual subtags.

Each of the specified formats, after selection by the user, in UBB Online starts the generation of statements for all accounts registered for MT940 from the next statement.

We would like to inform you that from 23:00 on 22.11.2024 to 19:00 on 24.11.2024. UBB will carry out technical upgrades, due to which UBB Mobile and UBB Online will not be available. During this period it will not be possible to make and accept blink payments to UBB accounts. There are no changes in the processing of regular bulk payments. During the unavailability of UBB Mobile and UBB Online, manual transfers and payments between own accounts and to third parties will be restricted. We recommend that you make urgent and important payments and blink payments before 20:00 on 22.11.2024, or order them with future value date after 24.11.2024 - thus they will take place automatically and seamlessly.

KBC Mobile Bulgaria and KBC Online Bulgaria will remain available for historical reference.

In the mentioned period it is advisable to plan sufficient funds in your accounts with active cards to them. Fully accessible will be all card transactions - ATM withdrawals and deposits, in-store payments at POS terminals and online purchases, use of digital wallets.

Our branches will remain open to you on Friday, 22.11.2024 with no change in the working hours, and you will be able to visit them again on Monday, 25.11.2024.

As of the 26th of September 2024, a new way of confirmation when logging in to UBB Online is launched - with a push notification in UBB Mobile. Thus, you will be able to confirm login faster and easier without the need to scan a QR image and enter the generated code, if you are currently using U-token in UBB Mobile. You just need to update your UBB Mobile app to the latest version.

The new option works in addition to the already available signing of transfers with a push notification and works in exactly the same way - after entering a username and password in UBB Online at the login confirmation step, you can change the mode of signing with a push notification that you will receive in UBB Mobile. You can open it after PIN or biometric identification and confirm login with a flick of your finger.

In order for the new option to work, it is necessary to have notifications enabled in UBB Mobile. In case your mobile device is Huawei, you can confirm with the U-token button, as before.

We would like to inform you that with a new UBB Online functionality, a digital filling of a declaration under Art. 2, para. 1 of Ordinance 28 of the BNB on the information and documents submitted to payment service providers when making cross-border transfers and payments to a third country is available in UBB Online. The declaration is visualized in electronic form only when ordering a foreign currency transfer to a third country (non-EU and EEA countries) in the amount of BGN 30,000 or more or their equivalent in another currency.

For user convenience the declaration is designed in such a way that, depending on the choice for the presence or absence of a document, it changes its appearance and additional fields are visualized, which are mandatory to fill in. Additional documents should be sent to e-docs@ubb.bg.

The digital completion of this declaration has been developed in addition to the Declaration of Origin of Funds already available for filling in for foreign currency transfers.

In order to increase customer satisfaction you can now order foreign currency funds transfers directly from an account in a different currency by entering a pre-agreed preferential exchange rate (FX reference) in a new field added in the foreign currency transfer template for legal entities. Thus, it will not be necessary to first use the Currency exchange option with this rate and then make a foreign currency funds transfer.

To get a preferential exchange rate, you should contact a currency dealer by phone, and the minimum amount to receive a preferential exchange rate is BGN 10,000. Foreign currency transfers outside UBB are executed until 15:30 and the FX reference provided by a dealer must be used by this time, as the agreed preferential exchange rate is valid only within the same business day.

Effective from 7 May 2024 a new way of signing documents, ordered through UBB Online, will be launched - with a push notification in UBB Mobile. Thus, you will be able to confirm fund transfers faster and easier without the need to scan a QR image and enter the generated code, provided that to date you use a U-token in UBB Mobile. All you need to do is update the version of your UBB Mobile app up to the newest one.

The new option functions, as follows - after entering a payment or a fund transfer in UBB Online at the confirmation step you can change the signing mode to a push notification, which will be received in UBB Mobile. You can open it after authentication with a PIN code or a biometric feature and you will see the details of the payment, pending confirmation. Please, compare those with the entered data in UBB Online and confirm it with a single touch.

For the new option to be functional you need to have switched on notifications in UBB Mobile. If your mobile device is of the Huawei brand, you will continue confirming transactions only with the U-token button, as until now.

In connection with the instruction of the Ministry of Finance and the BNB 03/03.05.2023, as of 01.10.2023, changes in the content of payment orders for payment from/to the budget, including through the Electronic Budget Payment System (SEBRA), enter into force for UBB digital channels.

The changes are as follows:

• When ordering a single payment order, the requirement to fill in the following fields is dropped: type, document number, date of the document and period to which the payment relates from/to;
• When sending a bulk file through KBC Online Bulgaria, containing payment orders to the budget in field 72, the 3rd and 4th lines are present in the form, but no value is filled in (empty ones are submitted).

• For payment with a debit or credit card of utility bills and installments under credit liabilities you will be able to use the UPAY payment gateway (www.ubbpay.bg). Payments with a UBB card through this gateway are free of charge and can be made by both registered and non-registered users.
• Online payments with UBB cards will be confirmed via a static password (indicated by you upon registering the card for payments on the Internet), as well as a dynamic password (received for every online payment through an SMS). In the screen for confirming the payment at the merchant you need to select ADDITIONAL METHODS and then the Dynamic and Static Password method. Temporarily online card payments will not be able to be confirmed through UBB Mobile.
• With regard to blocking of cards, please refer to UBB Contact Centre at the following telephone number: 0700 117 17.
• With regard to payment of liabilities under credit cards - you can deposit an installment at the specialized ATMs of UBB (www.ubb.bg/en/offices).

After 01.10.2022, the reporting of the accounted transactions linked to limit utilization along with the fees and  commissions shall happen from the 1st day of each month till the last day of that same month. Accordingly, from the first day of the reporting period till the 14th day of the next month, no fee shall be due upon full repayment of the due amounts. The new due date of the liabilities, formed during the Reporting period, shall be the14th day of the month, following the Reporting period..

As of October, the statements under company limits under business credit cards shall be generated in your business profile in UBB Online on the last day of each calendar month.

To this end, on 30.09.2022 you are to receive a statement, in which the accounted transactions linked to limit utilization, along with the fees and   commissions for the period 11.09.2022 – 30.09.2022, shall be reported, as you will receive the subsequent statements accordingly on the last day of the calendar month, to which it relates.

For security reasons, with effect from the end of May 2022, UBB enhances the requirements to the passwords for access to UBB Online. Such passwords should comprise a minimum of 9 characters and contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one digit and one special symbol.

After this date clients with non-compliant passwords, upon a successful login to the online banking functionality will have a system message displayed about the need of password change. Please, note that should you fail to change your password at that particular moment, you will not be able to subsequently log into UBB Online.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that UBB WOULD NEVER require from its clients to update personal or login data for UBB Online and UBB Mobile via email or SMS by means of attached links or buttons, nor via via pop-up windows in online websites.  The password change should be made by users via the “Password Change“ menu only after selecting themselves the address of UBB’s official website for online banking.

Please, be vigilant about receipt of such messages or visualization of suspicious windows! This could be either a phishing attack, or a malicious code on your devices.

Бихме искали да ви уведомим, че във връзка  с внедряване на нова платформа на платежната система БИСЕРА, засягаща всички доставчици на платежни услуги в страната, на 28.01.2022 г. (петък) крайният срок за приемане на преводи и директни дебити в лева със срок на изпълнение същия ден ще бъде, както следва:

• За междубанкови преводи през БИСЕРА и РИНГС, наредени в клоновете и през дигиталните канали на банката – 14:30 ч. Платежни нареждания през ОББ Онлайн ще се приемат и след 14:30 ч., но с дата на изпълнение 31 януари 2022 г. (понеделник). През ОББ Мобайл функцията за извършване на междубанкови преводи в лева ще бъде недостъпна до 20:00 ч., на 29.01.2022 г. (събота).
• За преводи на работна заплата, зареждани чрез файл – 14:30 ч.
• Иницииране на нареждания за директен дебит към клиенти на други банки ще бъде възможно до 11:00 ч.
• Получените от други банки искания за директен дебит, за които не е осигурена наличност до 11:00 ч., ще бъдат отказани служебно.

Уважаеми бизнес клиенти, 

От началото на 2022г. вече имате възможност да подписвате през мобилния си телефон документи, които са били създадени в онлайн банкирането Ви (ОББ Онлайн).

Новата функционалност може да достъпите от мобилното ни приложение ОББ Мобайл >> меню Плащания >> меню Документи за подпис, където се извеждат два раздела:

• Чакащи – документи, които са създадени и чакат да бъдат подписани и
• Подписани – документи, които са вече подписани.

Подписването в ОББ Мобайл Ви позволява да излъчвате лесно избрани от Вас единични преводи, да подписвате едновременно в пакет до 5 документа и да достъпвате добре структурирана информация  за чакащи/подписани документи на база зададени от Вас филтри (вид, дата, сума и т.н.).

След като документът/ите  е/са  подписани чрез Лицево разпознаване/Пръстов отпечатък или ПИН, ще бъдете пренасочени към резултатен екран, а статусът на документа/ите ще може да бъде видян в раздел „Подписани“.

BGN and foreign currency fund transfers via online and mobile banking will be accepted for execution with value date 31 December 2021, as follows:

• Cut-off time for acceptance of fund transfer orders in BGN:

14:15h. for interbank fund transfers via BISERA

14:50h. for interbank fund transfers via RINGS

15:30h. for intrabank fund transfers from/to accounts with UBB

• Cut-off time for acceptance of fund transfer orders in foreign currency:

13:30h. for outgoing fund transfers

15:30h. for intrabank fund transfers from/to accounts with UBB

On 31.12.2021 you can negotiate FX rates for amounts, exceeding the BGN 10 000 equivalence, by 15:00h.

On 31.12.2021 after 15:30 via UBB Mobile the possibility of ordering payments to the budget will be stoped.

Being led by our willingness to improve and facilitate the functionalities in UBB Online, we have created the new <<Administration>> menu. It comprises the following sub-sections:

• User Management
• Requests Confirmation
• Requests History
• Information

Via <<User Management>> sub-section you can get a list of all active users in UBB Online, info about the menus they have access to, as well as the option to fully remove their access, in a quick and easy manner. 

Via <<Requests Confirmation>> sub-section legal representatives, with “Sign requests” work mode in the new menu will approve initiated requests.

Via <<Requests History>> sub-section, you can review information about already created and executed requests, based on a predefined search period.

Striving to meet your highest expectations and needs, from the very beginning of 2022 we will keep expanding functionalities within the Administration menu and will be keeping you informed in a timely manner.

Dear clients,

You are now able to access in a faster and more precise manner your information about the movements on your account with us.

On each of the screens in UBB Online, where there is a calendar displayed to select a period for info table /reference generation purposes, there are visual improvements made and three quick buttons added: „Week“, „Month“ and „Year“. By means of those the selected period will be loaded automatically in the calendar. 

Additionally, in <<Accounts and Deposits >> menu, <<Account Movements>> subsection, there are additional filters developed, which are being visualized after generating the information you wish:

• Type (Incoming and Outgoing);
• Amount from;
• Amount up to;
• Correspondent.

After selecting one or a combination of several filters you should click on the Apply button and the generated table is being updated, based on your requirements.

Dear clients,

We would like to inform you that the service for checking in real time and payment of local taxes and fees to Sofia Municipality via UBB Online has been resumed. Through the updated service you can pay only taxes and fees, for which you are the taxable person. Payment of liabilities will be made per tax liability type, in the sequence from older to newer liabilities, as per the currently effective regulations in Bulgaria. For example, if you owe property tax in several regions within Sofia Municipality, then upon defining the sequence of payment for this tax liability what is taken into account is the due installments for all your properties in Sofia Municipality, regardless of the region where they are located. You cannot pay property tax for a real estate in Sofia Municipality, if you have an older unpaid installment for another property within the same municipality. More information is available in the Instructions on the service, in Payment of Taxes and Fees menu. We continue with updating the service also in the UPay payment gateway.

While focusing on your wishes for enhancement of UBB Online, now a Template Sharing functionality is already available.

You can share a new template as upon its creation you should tick the „Visible to all in UBB Online“ check box, positioned below the field for entering a name of the template.

An already existing template can be shared via „Share“ or „Edit“ actions, accessible in <<Payments>> menu, <<Templates and Trusted Beneficiaries >> sub-section.

Additionally, <<Payments>> menu, <<Templates and Trusted Beneficiaries >> sub-section will provide information as to which templates have been shared with other users, as well as the user that has most recently worked on each of those templates. Via this sub-section you are also able to share new and existing templates.

Бихме искали да ви предупредим за нов вид телефонна измама с обаждания от лица, представящи се за служители на ОББ, които изискват предоставяне на чувствителна информация от наши клиенти за достъпа до онлайн банкирането им, личните им сметки или банкови карти.

Измамниците най-често уверяват клиентите, че имат информация за неоторизиран достъп до сметките им през електронно или мобилно банкиране на ОББ и предлагат различни решения: изискват потвърждение на несъществуващи трансакции (с карти или наредени преводи), предлагат застраховки срещу киберизмами или дават инструкции за инсталиране на съмнителни приложения за защита на мобилните  устройства.

Крайната цел на всички тези действия е, в състояние на тревога, вие сами да им споделите ваши конфиденциални данни (потребителски имена, пароли за достъп, верификационни кодове, детайли на кредитни / дебитни карти или друга чувствителна информация и данни) или да ви накарат да направите плащане към тяхна сметка.
